Silex main distribution is packaged by Silex Labs. You can freely download one of the official packages on the official download page or by updating an existing version of Silex.

Other people may also package it another way, and distribute modified versions of Silex. This is made possible thanks to the update system of Silex (this link is for developers).

Open source packages

When you download the latest version of Silex on the official download page, you have the choice to download one of the following packages.

Silex exe package

• this is an exe application which contains Silex
• designers and webmasters
• windows only
• run SILEX out of the box without any installation and directly from cdrom, an usb stick or from any folder on a hard disk

Silex server package

• simple Silex server
• designers and webmasters
• mac, windows, linux
• local or online webserver

Silex dev kit package

• includes a Silex server and all the files you will need to customize layouts, skin components, develop plugins…
• Webdesigners amd developers
• mac, windows, linux
• local or online webserver
